The Pastoralist Leadership Summit (PLS) is a national high level policy dialogue platform to address pressing issues affecting Kenya's pastoralist communities.
The fourth conference in Wajir, from December 8th to 10th, 2024, will focus on “Unlocking Policies and Financial Bottlenecks to Maximize Pastoralism Potential.” It aims to enhance development funding and cooperation between national and county governments.
Over three days, 400+ Delegates will participate in different activities aligned cutting across the thematic tracks to devise and implement comprehensive strategies to mitigate and ultimately end drought emergencies, Secure land rights for communities, address and solve inter-community conflicts, enhance livestock production, marketing and overall livelihood for pastoralists in the drylands region.
Of the Four Hundred and Fifty (450) delegates attending the Pastoralist Leadership Summit, participants represent a diverse range of sectors, including the National Executive, State Corporations, and Independent Commissions. Additionally, there will be delegates from local, national, and international NGOs, development partners and donors, private sector representatives, as well as members of community pastoral associations.
